Description de l'emploi

Street Child UK are searching for a dynamic professional to lead a vital two-year flagship education and child protection in emergencies project in the conflict affected Haut Plateau d’Uvira region, of South Kivu. With expertise in EIE (essential) &/or CPIE, you will be prepared to be hands on – and bring advanced inter-personal and collaboration skills. Leading a team of 3 national staff, this unique role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-sufficient team player, who is committed to Street Child’s cause and ways of working with partners. Being able to operate in both French (essential) and English, to an excellent written standard, is key.
This role could be suitable for an experienced project manager – or equally an excellent EiE/CPiE professional looking for the opportunity to lead a project for the first time. The role reports to Street Child’s highly experienced regional representative in Kinshasa, who will also provide hands on support and visit the project frequently. There will also be the opportunity to influence and help develop Street Child’s Great Lakes education and protection programme portfolio and approach.
Ideally the role would be based in Uvira, with c.30% travel anticipated, to Bukava and Kinshasa mainly. Bujumbura or Bukavu are also potential, but less optimal, base-locations for the role. The position is open to international and national candidates.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead Street Child’s Education and Child Protection programme planning and inception working closely with your team of three staff (EIE officer; CPIE officer; MHPSS officer) and the local partner to drive outcomes;
  • Provide technical expertise for the design and implementation of EIE / CPIE activities, particularly pre-service and in-service teacher training programs;
  • Roll out Street Child’s proven approaches in Education and Child protection and lead programme implementation, adapting in line with project learning and changing context;
  • Make regular field visits to identify and address opportunities and challenges, and prepare regular progress reports on the implementation of education projects/activities in emergency situations;
  • Work closely with Street Child colleagues to prepare narrative reports and communications materials for donors in full compliance with Street Child’s and donors’ requirements
  • Identify training needs, develop and roll out capacity building plan on EiE / CPiE to Street Child and Partner staff to carry out quality EiE programming.
  • Support wider Great Lakes education and protection programme development (DRC, Burundi, Rwanda) as relevant and required

What we are looking for:

  • A dynamic, positive, self-sufficient personable professional with a base of relevant field experience in humanitarian programming;
  • Experience of Education / Child Protection in emergencies project implementation, budget management and grant management, and developing and delivering EIE / CPIE MEL approaches;
  • Proven management and team building skills, with a commitment to and respect for local partnership
How to apply:
Please send your CV and cover letter to drc[email protected] by 4th January 2023. We will review applications as they are received. As this role is based in country, appropriate pre-employment checks will be required as part of our recruitment process in line with our Safeguarding Policy.
Please note that this role is unaccompanied and not suitable for candidates looking for a family posting. The position is open to international and national candidates.
