The post holder will enhance the quality of the Sightsavers Inclusive Education programme and ensure programmes and projects are planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated to the highest possible standards as laid out in the organization’s policies and procedures, Including budget monitoring.
The post holder will collaborate with other staff, partners and other actors to identify areas for programme growth and assist in identifying and developing new initiatives. They will produce a report of all activities carried out and develop case studies in collaboration with the communication department.
Key Tasks and Principal Accountabilities
Principal accountabilities:
1.Working with Partners 50%: travel will take time and we need to be sure that the staff will be able to do it half of the time
- Identify partner organizations with whom Sightsavers can work to achieve the organization’s strategic priorities, through both service delivery and advocacy work.
- Develop and support longer-term relationships with these partners that go beyond the duration of individual projects.
- Support partners in the identification of their own capacity building needs and help facilitate the provision of these needs.
- Disseminate information about Sightsavers and its work to partners.
- Facilitate the establishment of partnership agreements with partners where appropriate.
- Promote shared learning and collaboration between partners by facilitating partner networks and meetings.
- Travel to all areas of implementation of the project
- Financial & Resource Management 10%
- Assist project partners in the preparation of budgets.
- Monitor expenditure of project financial resources and liaise with the FSSM/Officer where necessary.
- Ensure that partners submit timely financial returns.
- Ensure that partners manage and use project assets as per Sightsavers’ policy.
- Follow up with partners any actions arising from audits carried out by the FSSM/Officer or by external auditors.
- Project Management 30%
Support partners and other stakeholders by:
Supporting partners to manage all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
Working with partners to identify needs for technical support.
Supporting the partner to ensure that all project documentation and reports are made available in a timely and accessible way.
- Information and Communication Management 10%
Be proactive in providing good quality information on case studies, interesting news stories etc. relating to the projects the officer is responsible for.
Ensure that the fund-raising and communication department in Head Office receive appropriate materials and information as required especially if projects are supported by restricted funding that may have special reporting requirements.
Participate in all PR activities within the Area including World Disability Day.
Represent Sightsavers at various forums, meetings and advocate for Sightsavers philosophy and policies.
Jobholder entry requirements – the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
Essential
Extensive demonstrable experience implementing programmes in developing country contexts, including experience in schools
Experience of all aspects of project management in community development programmes
Experience of designing/managing programmes designed to facilitate inclusion of marginalized children
Experience of policy and advocacy work in education, particularly in relation to disability rights, UNCRPD, SDGs, inclusion or social protection.
Competent user of Excel
Experience of partner and stakeholders’ engagement and support
Tertiary degree, Education,
Ability to travel 50% of time nationally
Right to work in Mali
Desirable:
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (social work/gender; disability studies, education, etc.) would be an advantage
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (social work/gender; disability studies, international development, education, etc.) would be an advantage.

Project management skills

Fluent French, English and Bamanakan
Good IT skills
Ability to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts and reports
Knowledge of current issues and best practice in social inclusion, disability and development.
Good knowledge of the key international networks and organizations working on social inclusion and disability.
Familiarity with international legislation and policies in the field of disability and human rights – in particular the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
