The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of a confirmed offer of employment.

Salary: (XOF) CFA4,179,918 – (XOF)

Duties

This position performs general electrical maintenance and repairs to residences owned or leased by the U.S. Embassy mission in addition to functional facilities as required.  Performs preventive maintenance efforts for all related electrical equipment. Responsible for investigating and determining repairs that are required for ensuring electrical safety in USG-owned or leased residential facilities.  Checks to insure that the electrical system in residences are satisfactorily grounded and that ground fault circuit interruption devices are installed as required by the electrical code and are working properly.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:  Position requires a minimum of at least 3 years of progressively responsible experiences in the operations and maintenance of electrical circuits, main and sub-panel wiring.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must be able to read and understand blueprints, sketches, electrical schematic diagrams, maintenance manuals, and code books.  Must know procedures of working on electrical systems and transformers.

Education Requirements:
Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) and completion of vocational or trade school program in electrical systems producing journeyman skill level are required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:

EnglishBasic Knowledge of English is required– Able to use greetings, ask questions and give simple directions.  Can form basic sentences and express basic thoughts.

This may be tested.

French or Bambara: Limited Knowledge of French or Bambara is required – Reasonable confident in speaking French or Bambara and able to handle social situations and casual conversation and limited work requirements. Able to write simple texts and fill out forms.

This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to use the tools of the trade, power drills, hand tools, fish tape; must be able to work at elevated heights or from an aerial work platform.  Must be able to use electrical testing equipment such as ohm meters, meg-ohm meters, and other electrical component testing equipment. Must be licensed and able to drive a motor vehicle. Must have held a driver’s license for at least 5 years.
