Position Title: Communication & Engagement Manager, Africa

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corporate Communications & Engagement Manager adapts and implements the global corporate communications strategy and initiatives for internal and external audiences for Africa. Role will shape Barry Callebaut’s image as the world’s largest manufacturer of high-quality cocoa and chocolate products and as a leader in sustainability.
The role will report to the Regional HR Director, Africa and provide the communications business partnering for the Africa Leadership Team. He/She will be responsible for coordinating communications plans with Country Comms team in specific countries namely Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and will be a member of the Africa HR leadership team.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- Based on the Group’s communications strategy, collaborate with the Regional HR Director to develop and drive impactful communications activities in Africa.
- Develop and implement internal communications plan, Work with each country Managing Director, Country HR lead to ensure that employees to embed the company’s values, strategy, goals and direction. Including our Forever Chocolate agenda.
- Upskill business leaders in effective communication, strategy and approach. Prepare business related communications to engage employees. Leverage, promote and use digital tools to drive engagement actions across markets.. Support the Diversity and Inclusion committees across the region and countries.
- Serve as in-house communications consultant for the leadership team, prepare speeches and external communications and engagement opportunities. Prepare and execute the delivery of Corporate townhalls, OneBC day, Wellbean activities, Lets Learn, Sustainability Made Simple, Cocoa Ladies, other employee resource groups and other engagement activities.
- Act as the main point of contact for media within the region, handle media inquiries, maintain excellent relationship with media and maximize exposure in press and editorial columns.
- Develop regional content (including written articles, photography and video) across various channels such as BC Currents, LinkedIn and other social media landscape.
- Develop press activities and material for press release distribution, launches/announcements, interviews/queries, conferences, etc. across all major business and initiatives in Africa (especially relating to the relevant business partners and stakeholders).
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communications to make appropriate improvements and recommendations.
- Liaise with Global Corporate Communications and Regional HR Director to cascade information to media and employees (e.g. corporate results announcements, Re-Organisations, major M&A activities, etc.)
- Build and manage external agency relationships to ensure successful delivery of plan, including budget management. Handle all communications aspect related to crises.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor degree in Communication, Public Relations or Marketing
- 3 – 5 years of experience working as a communications or marketing professional (an experience in a communication or advertising agency will be an asset)
- Full bilingual proficiency – French &English.
- Excellent communicator with strong Influencing skills.
- Strong experience using digital tools – proficiency in photo and video editing software
- Ability to interact with different stakeholders and collaborate with people from different departments and different levels
