Job Description:
World Vision seeks a Purpose Two Lead for the proposed USAID-funded Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Purpose Two Lead will provide oversight and guidance in the design and implementation of interventions for Purpose Two resulting in improved utilization of quality food among vulnerable people. The Purpose Two Lead must have demonstrated experience effectively leading nutrition, WASH, and social behavior change programming intended to improve food, nutrition, and economic security. The position is contingent upon funding and donor approval.
Major Responsibilities
Oversight and guidance in the design and implementation of Purpose Two interventions
- Lead nutrition, WASH, and social behavior change programming intended to improve food, nutrition, and economic security
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based, multi-sectoral nutrition and WASH programming
- Lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from a broad range of sources.
Coordination & Communication with Stakeholders
- Network and engage with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ensure timely and effective communication and information sharing between different stakeholders
Staff Management and Capacity Building
- Supervise staff that report directly to this position. Conduct regular coaching and implement the Performance Development Management system.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation, to ensure compliance with operational procedures, and assess progress as well as to deliver technical support to field staff, provide resources, and make clear recommendations to strengthen the program and share learning.
Reporting
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports and assist in the preparation of the annual work plans for all consortium members.
- Ensure that all documents are reviewed. Also ensure that reviews are carried out at each level.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant academic area – e.g., nutrition, public health, or a related social science discipline – plus five years of relevant experience with increasing technical responsibility leading to senior level expertise are required
- Or undergraduate degree in a related field and eight years of relevant work experience with increasing technical responsibility leading to senior level expertise are required
- Experience effectively leading nutrition, WASH, and social behavior change programming intended to improve food, nutrition, and economic security
- Experience leading the development and implementation of evidence-based, multi-sectoral nutrition and WASH programming
- In-depth understanding of food and nutrition security
- Capacity to lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from a broad range of sources.
- Strong understanding of a range of SBC theory and approaches that address changes in social norms, structures, and individual behaviors.
- Proficiency in capacity strengthening, including experience with effective adult education approaches.
- Ability to network and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong management and interpersonal skills, mentoring and facilitation skills, and field experience in low-resource environments.
Desired
- At least 5 years of field experience
- Fluency in French are required, and professional proficiency in English and in the Congolese national language specific to the Kasai region is preferred.
- Experience specific to the DRC is highly advantageous
- Experience with USAID and U.S. Government regulations and program administration, management, and reporting procedures and systems are preferred.
- Previous experience with Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA), Development Food Security Activity (DFSA), Development Food Assistance Programs (DFAP), Multi Year Assistance Programs (MYAP), and/or Development Assistance Programs (DAP) is preferred.
