Dimensions of the Role

  • The Data Analyst role is a temporal and intense function which requires the analysis and reporting of data that has been collected from NWSW region on precise sectors. It requires clarity, efficiency, effective and appropriate use of analytical tools in Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data. The activities of the data analyst will include, among others

Typical Responsibilities – Key End Results of Position:

The Data Analyst will among many other tasks perform the following;

  1. Using automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources
  2. Fixing cross-set data errors: Data rarely comes from a single source; the data analyst should ensure that different data sources don’t contradict each other.
  3. Removing corrupted data and fixing coding errors and related problems
  4. Reorganizing data in a readable format
  5. Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data
  6. Using relevant and sophisticated statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction
  7. Preparing clear, concise and quality reports for the management stating trends, patterns, gaps and predictions using relevant data
  8. Preparing final analysis reports for the stakeholders to understand the data-analysis steps, enabling them to take important decisions based on various needs, facts and trends.

 Ensures completion on time;

  1. Adherence to organizational policies on Child Protection, IT, Gender, Anti-Fraud and Corruption, Code of Conduct, Whistle Blowing, Human Resources policies and procedures;

The holder of the position has no authorization and will liaise with the PIIA’s finance and Administrative department for all related finance and administrative procedures under the leadership of M&E and the ERM

  1. Education: Post graduate degree in Social Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Biostatistics.

Experience:   

  1. Experience in data models and reporting packages

  2. Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, MATLAB, and Python
  3. Knowledge of data visualization software like Tableau, Qlik
  4. Knowledge of how to create and apply the most accurate algorithms to datasets in order to find solutions

POSTE 2 : Social Worker

Post title: Social Worker Grade
Department:  Emergency Response Start date January 2022
Duty Station: Bamenda & Buea
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Purpose:  The CP Social/Case worker will be responsible for providing social services ensuring in line with key protection principles including best interests of the clients, confidentiality, do no harm and child/client participation. The case worker will work closely with conflict affected clients, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children and other vulnerable persons at risk and survivors of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect, providing case management services in line with Plan’s Standard Operating procedures, and Global minimum standards of protection case management.

Social /Case Worker will be responsible for supervising the activities of Field Monitors and liaising between the Communities and Project Coordinator

The Social Worker will provide regular reports on program activities of his/her zone of intervention on weekly/monthly basis to the Project Coordinator. He/she will be responsible for consolidating and monitoring data from the zone allocated to him/her. The Social Worker will also provide support to Field Monitors in making referrals to local protection agencies, if concerns are raised about beneficiaries and other humanitarian actors.  He/she will approve any referrals made. He/she will ensure that data is collected and consolidated as required.

                                            

Major Responsibilities

  1. The Social/Case worker will assume full responsibility to assess the level of risk that clients are exposed to, and immediately report any cases that could evolve into high risk cases to the direct line Supervisor (Project Coordinator).
  2. Identify, prioritize, assess and support clients at risk of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect.
  3. Monitor and report on protection issues and violations in assigned communities or zone(s).
  4. Provide case management services in line with the National Standard Operating Procedures for case management & Global Child Protection Case Management Guidelines.
  5. Take at least 25 identified CP cases of vulnerable children from Initial Assessment to Case Closure using the Inter-Agency Case Management forms during the project performance period.
  6. Ensure that clients are followed up and receiving proper case management and that cases are prepared for case discussions/case management meetings
  7. Ensure regular case review meetings and conferences are conducted to reflect on progress and to accommodate the lessons learned and improve case management system accordingly; [participate in Best Interest Determination as appropriate.
  8. Be proactive in identifying opportunities to better support clients through facilitating processes, systems etc.
  9. Ensure adequate alternative care services: Seek to understand traditional care strategies for UASC (including potential protection risks linked to these). Assess the capacity of the community to absorb clients that need care, and the complementary support that is potentially required.
  10. Mobilize community leaders and community-based organizations (such as foster parents’ groups) to support alternative care.
  11. Provide psychosocial support for children in care, parents and caregivers
  12. Provide parents and caregivers with information on child psychosocial distress, and on how they can support in the recovery process, as well as access services.
  13. Work with other sectors to ensure that they consider the protection and wellbeing of beneficiaries and assist them to make their services client-friendly and accessible.
  14. Ensure full responsibility & accountability –for maintaining, drafting and updating reports which include case management reports and field activities report.
  15. Support in the training and orientation of community-based volunteers and monitors.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

  1. Ensure CPIE risk assessment is done for assigned zone
  2. Ensure all protection concerns are reported and also participate in case management meetings.
  3. Report on opportunities and constraints and any adjustments needed in the project.
  4. Ensure assessment, documentation, good follow up of all referred cases and report accordingly;
  5. Follow-up survivors from child abuses, identification and evaluations of their needs
  6. Give feedback on the project during community meetings with beneficiaries and Community leaders a month.
  7. Ensure Children and Young People Safe Guarding Policy of Plan International Cameroon is respected by all.
  8. Comply with Plan International’s Fraud Policy at all times to safeguard and protect Plan’s assets and reputation of honesty.

Information and Co-ordination

  1. Provide regular weekly updates with inputs from all Field Monitors
  2. Submit monthly reports to the Project Coordinator on activities implemented.
  3. With the permission of the Project Coordinator, the Social Worker can represent Plan in stake holders meetings.

Human Resources and Administration

  1. Participate in the training and briefing of Field Monitors and other key stakeholders on protection and other related issues.

Dealing with Problems

  1. Maintain neutrality to the on-going crisis.
  2. The job requires intense interventions on the field, in areas often at risk. This requires prudence, vigilance and compliance with security instructions on the part of the animator.
  3. Excellent and creative leadership skills will be utilized to properly implement the activities, in accordance with the standards, principles and with possible resistance from colleagues as is often the case in emergency response work
  4. S/he should work under pressure and accept travels and stays in areas often austere.

Qualification and Experience

  1. GCE A/ Level or its equivalent. A degree in social sciences, law, education or related field with good knowledge of established international child protection standards and protection principles can be an advantage; with at least 2 years of experience in Social Work or community development.
  2. Be able to speak English and Pidgin English. Ability to speak the local language of the assigned zone will also be an added advantage.
  3. Has experience in working with vulnerable persons.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Resident in the assigned communities
