The United States Peace Corps Benin (part of Peace Corps USA) is seeking an individuel for the position of Deputy Director of Programming and Training (DDPT), based in Cotonou. The DDPT will be a local hire with a Personal Services Contract. Candidates of all genders are encouraged to apply.

The Deputy Director of Programming and Training (DDPT), under the direct supervision of the Director of Programming and Training (DPT), is responsible for the management of several operational components of the Programming, Training, and Evaluation team to support quality programming and training (P&T) for Peace Corps. This includes providing continuity and management support across program sectors (education, health, and agriculture) and in relationships with partners outside Peace Corps. S/ He supervises the training of American Peace Corps Volunteers over their 27 months of training and service, including supervising and coordinating the work of the Language and Cross Culture Coordinator/ Training Assistant and short-term training staff, assessing training needs, monitoring training success, reporting training results and having general oversight of the training facility. S/he also coordinates the training of P&T staff. The DDPT is an expert within the team on Intercultural Competence, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (ICDEIA), facilitating training of staff and Volunteers and leading efforts to integrate ICDEIA into Post operations.

Required qualifications

To be selected for this position, the applicant must be a Beninese citizen or eligible to be employed in Benin, must not have been employed in intelligence-related activities, and must be able to submit an application that clearly documents how S/He meets the minimum qualifications.

  • Master’s /Maitrise degree (BAC+4 or 5) in Project Management, International Development, Social Sciences, International Relations, Cultural Studies, Social Work, or related fields.
  • At least eight years of work experience including at least five years of experience working with international organization(s) with preference for American organization(s) as Coordinator, Ma-nager or Specialist in the field of international development, education, teaching, training, NGO management, volunteer support, or other related work environment, with progressive manage-ment responsibility including project management and program management/administration.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and presenting trainings for adult learners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at a professional level in English and French required, which will be assessed during selection interviews, and in at least one local Beninese language pre-ferred.
