Mission
The Manager Tax and Transfer Pricing is responsible for executing all taxation and transfer pricing activities with the FinCo. The role implements tax strategies, creates and submits tax computations for review and builds capability in using the tax reporting cloud system. The role also executes all transfer pricing activities, ensuring that all group mandates and regulatory guidelines are duly complied with while undertaking MTN internal or external transfer pricing activities.
Responsablités opérationnelles
The role is accountable for the following work area outcomes:
Strategy & Analytics, Budgeting, Data and Reporting
- Implement and execute policies, procedures and guidelines cascaded by the functional lead
- Comply with the set governance mechanisms, under guidance from the functional lead
- Cascade the Group Fintech budget, analytics and reporting framework in the sub-function, under direction from the Head of Finance
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Tax and Transfer Pricing strategies and propose and offer suggestions for improvements
Tax Operations
- Implement tax and transfer pricing strategies as mandated by group
- Manage tax operations and administration activities, including but not limited to, tax filing, remittances, refunds and submissions as per government regulations/authority guidance
- Compliance to periodic submissions and filings as predicated by the respective Government authorities and regulators
- Undertake computation of all taxes and submit to higher management for review. Respond to queries and where issues identified, correct them in due time
- Timely and accurately file tax returns
- Support taxation related audit, produce data and documents as required by the auditing authorities
- Build capability to use Tax Reporting Cloud Systems and make use of the same for all tax related work
- Handle all tax assessments and obtain refunds, wherever due
- Manage and report on Income & Deferred Tax computations (including review of expense analysis) and Effective Tax Rate recons and VAT Returns
- Review and file all VAT returns.
- Review and post all Tax related journal entries on a monthly basis.
- Ensure all Tax related accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and facilitate sign off on Tax related accounts reconciliations
- Prepare Tax computations for Interim, Year-end, Budgets and Forecasts reporting
- Prepare supporting schedules required for completion of VAT returns, annual and provisional tax returns, and monthly tax computations
- Review of audit files together with all tax supporting schedules for auditors to ensure audit completion within Group deadlines.
- Assist with the review of Annual Financial Statement packs
- Assist with the Business Planning and Budgeting processes where required
- Assist with review of GL journals and GL accounts reconciliations where required
- Where required, escalate unsolvable issues to Head of Finance in a timeous manner
- Execute all transfer pricing activities between OpCos and ensure all related disputes are timely resolved
- Review the resultant profitability of FinCo to ensure results reflect an arm’s length profile and make suggestions for improvements where required
- Prepare and execute intercompany agreements in line with group mandates, as and when required
- Prepare and share responses for queries raised by tax authorities
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned
Transfer Pricing Operations
- Responsible to manage transfer pricing for the FinCo in line with Group DigiFin Finance guidelines
- Align with the approved chargeback model and liaise with Legal teams to update intercompany agreements with new services and any changes to Group guidelines
- Support Group DigiFin Finance teams in any transfer pricing reviews and documentation
- Manage the calculation of intercompany service charges for budgets, forecasts and year-end actuals
- Provide transfer pricing reconciliations and data to Group DigiFin Finance teams where required
Diplôme
- Minimum of BAC+4 to 5 in Finance, Accounting, Corporate Finance or equivalent
Expérience Professionnelle
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years’ total experience in a similar position with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Experience in Tax management, Tax audit and Tax computation in accordance with national and/or international Tax requirements
- Experience in Fintech, banking or Financial Services is preferred
- Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding emerging markets is preferred
Connaissance
- Good knowledge of local Financial Tax, Council and Social contribution laws
- Good knowledge of jurisprudence in tax matters
- Practice of transfer pricing regulations
- Solid knowledge of Legal standards
- Financial accounting standards
- Good knowledge of regional accounting and Tax regulation (SYSCOA)
