About MAG in Sahel and West Africa 

MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. The main area of focus in MAG’s programmes across West Africa is Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM), working with national defence and security authorities towards the safe storage, management and destruction of weapons and munitions. 

 

About the role: 

MAG is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Finance and Support Services Manager (FSSM) who will provide leadership and oversight to Support Services functions and systems within a multi-countries programme (including Logistics, Procurement, Stores, Fleet, IT, and Finance), ensuring system design, implementation and continuous improvement in line with MAG policies, good practice and donor guidelines. Reporting to the Regional Programmes Manager (RPM), acting as Senior Manager in Country (SMiC) in their absence and deputising for them when required, the Finance and Support Services Manager (FFSM) will act as a key member of the programme Senior Management Team (SMT) and is expected to contribute to the strategic development of the programme. The postholder will also provide support and advice to the programme staff, in collaboration with the Regional Programmes Manager (RPM). 

About you: 

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in working in development and humanitarian program related field operation or field activities in developing countries and relevant overseas experience in the NGO sector, at a senior level, managing programme, Finance and support service functions. A Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Project Management or related field and a proven expertise in managing finance are essential. You will have experience of managing projects including : implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation, risk assessment and contract compliance. The postholder will have significant experience is people management, with proven ability to lead and manage national staff and to develop successful relationships with various stakeholders (donors, NGOs, local partners and government bodies).  

 The Finance and Support Services Manager will possess excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including excellent written skills to be able to write proposals and reports. The knowledge and understanding of relevant institutional donors e.g. EU, UN, government departments is required. You will be innovative, creative and proactive with an analytical and solution-focused approach to work and a commitment to MAG’s strategic direction and core values. You will be able to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure, to exercise sound judgment and make decisions with limited supervision.
