The Head of HR for the North West Africa Area (NWA) will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, working to achieve substantial business results. Through business understanding and partnering, you will:
– Create value by translating the business strategies into people and organizational agendas, increasing engagement and performance;
– Ensure the business has access to the critical organizational capabilities required to deliver the strategy, and that enior teams are highly engaged, diverse and high-performing.*NWA Area countries: Senegal, Cape Verde Islands, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Key responsibilities

Partner with Area Leadership
– Establish short and long term goals to drive business success ensuring the people agenda enables the strategy
– Act as sparring partner and courageous coach to senior leaders helping them to develop talent solutions
– Collaborate to design efficient organizational structures enabling the business strategy
– Support with building high performing teams that are prepared for the future needs of the organization
– Support senior leaders through annual PPM cycle, partner to understand individual and team development needs and provide guidance on how to address these. Facilitate trainings on diverse HR topics. Discuss need to hire at senior level
– Provide advice & guidance on all exit scenarios (individual cases & mass redundancy). Conduct consented exit interviews for voluntary exit
Strategic HR
– Actively contribute to the business strategy
– Work with CoEs to prioritize and develop Maersk’s future HR policies and processes based on short-and long-term business needs
– Identify and close capability and competency gaps, in close partnership with CoEs and People Partnering organization
– Drive the succession planning of key positions and long term talent development in the function
Drive the HR agenda
– Foster a culture where the Maersk behaviors and values are embedded and on which business decisions are made
– Drive HR strategic priorities and projects in the function
– Partner with the People Partnering organization to implement people strategies and support business initiatives globally
– Proactively drive a culture of collaboration and sharing across the Strategic HRBP community

We are looking for

– A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a strategic HR position, partnering with business within a global matrix organization
– Excellence in influencing senior stakeholders, conceptualizing and shaping strategies, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view while acting as the trusted advisor
– Resilience and maturity in dealing with change/uncertainty and delivering results in challenging environments
– Self-motivation, accountability and efficient execution, with a knack for optimising processes and pragmatic problem-solving
– A passion for developing and coaching others to grow talent for the organisation as a people leader
– Proficiency in English and French required
– BA/BS or equivalent is required; MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage
