SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator (WCNA)

 

Location:  West, Central and North Africa (WCNA) Office- Dakar – Senegal,

 

Type of contract: fixed term contract (12 month renewable)

 

Missions:

The monitoring and evaluation coordinator supports the development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems and their implementation. Under the supervision of the Head of M&E, s/he also participates in the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools to allow the generation of information, analysis and relevant knowledge for timely and efficient decision. Moreover, s/he participates in building the capacity of SOS member associations (MAs) staff in M&E related topics

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Support SOS member associations in implementation of the regional M&E Strategy.
  • Review project documents submitted by SOS member associations especially concerning the Connect SOS project implementation.
  • Support MA in data quality assurance
  • Support the implementation of Results Based Management (RBM).
  • Support MAs to ensure alignment of existing programmes with RBM processes.
  • Capacity building of MAs’ staff in M&E related tools and frameworks including RBM and data collection.
  • Participate in programme auto-evaluation as well as documentation of best practices.
  • Support SOS member associations in recruitment processes including external consultants
  • Provide first level user support to MAs in regards to programme databases (PDB2 & ProDIGI).
  • Support monitoring activities and inputs required of other team members.
  • Plan and support PD department reporting requirements.
  • Participate in M&E networks within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Professional degree in social or economic disciplines preferably with master in monitoring and evaluation and/or social research.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the area of monitoring and evaluation.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing M&E systems, tools and frameworks
  • Expertise in data collection and design of relative tools.
  • Experience using an array of statistical, analytical, database and other standard software (e.g.: SPSS, STATA, Minitab, STATISTICA, MS Excel, etc).
  • Knowledge and experience in Results Based Management (RBM).
  • Desirable experience in conducting studies and reporting.
  • Knowledge of social development issues, such as child protection, education, community/programme development, community health, child and youth development or related field.
  • Well-developed facilitation, group leadership and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in an international setting – diverse cultures.
