En tant qu’organisation non gouvernementale de développement social, nous soutenons les enfants sans protection parentale et les familles vivant dans des circonstances difficiles par le biais de services de soins, d’éducation, de santé et d’urgence, et défendons les droits des enfants et des jeunes en collaboration avec un large éventail de partenaires. Nous travaillons dans 135 pays et territoires, atteignant plus d’un million d’enfants, de jeunes, de familles et de soignants chaque année.

Poste 1 : Social Worker

 SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES GHANA is a child welfare organization that provides a stable Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. Currently, we operate in four locations; Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, Tamale with the National Office in Accra. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment on our “Re-integration” Project as:

Social Worker

  Duty Post:    Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi & Tamale

 

Under the leadership of the Project Coordinator, the social worker will support project development in the area of reintegration of families and children with their communities in line with the approved concept note, logframe and budget. He/she will be responsible to support children who need to be reintegrated into their families of origin and their communities. This includes direct work with the children, caregivers and communities, based on the professional social work practice, ethic, values to achieve the sustainable development of the families and integration in the community. He/she is also responsible to ensure the timely completion of the family development plans with the active participation of children and caregivers.

 

The ideal candidate should:

  • Hold a first degree in Social Worker, Sociology, Economics or Community Development
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Child Development and Project Management
  • Possess positive and professional approach. Highly organized, able to work independently, use initiative, and keep commitments.
  • Be a motivated self-starter with initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm
  • Strategic thinker combined with practical “ can do’’ attitude
  • Possess strong supervisory, organizational and time management skills with precision to meet deadlines.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Child Rights and Child Safe Guarding Practices
  • Have knowledge of national policy developments in the area of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and employability
  • Experience on reintegration, alternative care, child and young people counselling
  • Experience on women economic empowerment
  • Team player & ability to cooperate with Heads of departments and projects

Poste 2 : Youth Development Worker

Youth Development Worker

                                                          Duty Post:  Tamale

 

The ideal candidate should be;

  • At least 35 years & above
  • Hold a first degree in Social Work, Youth Development work, Sociology, Psychology or Guidance and Counseling with at least three years of social work experience.
  • Capable of implementing youth development and pathway plans; provide career guidance and placement support for the young people
  • Support young people in learning the required soft and life skills needed to live an independent life
  • Provide young people with on-going career counselling and job orientation based on a clear understanding of each person’s skills, abilities, aspirations and matching them with labor market requirements
  • Ability to stay informed about  young people’s school/work progress and react timely if any challenges are detected
  • Facilitate internship, mentorship, coaching and job shadowing opportunities for young people
  • Capable to assume the role as a Facilitator, Enabler and Role Model for the young people
  • Able to build young people’s participation skills in order to empower them towards actively participating and getting involved in decision-making

He/she must also possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Good interpersonal relationships and communication skills
  • Good understanding and knowledge in youth management
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good level of digital skills and knowledge to use technology
  • Ability to realistically assess young people’s talents, skills and interests

Poste 3 : Handy Man

Handyman (1 Position)

  Duty Post: Tema

 

Purpose: To provide technical support to ensure the smooth running of programme activities in Tema.

Qualification and Experience

The ideal applicant must;

  • Hold HND in Building & Construction/Technology or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Have at least 3 years relevant work experience in building construction, mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Possess some knowledge in  basic auto mechanics or vehicle maintenance
  • Able to handle minor repairs on equipment and estate facilities
  • Able to handle minor electrical and plumbing works
  • Be able to take initiative and have a sense of responsibility
  • Be physically and mentally fit
  • Be patient, honest and very respectful
  • Be able to work for long hours and on weekends when the need arises.
  • Possess good writing skills with a flair for the needs and development of children.
  • Have a strong cultural awareness, able to work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Be a team player, have strong collaborative skills and able to relate with children, youth & all levels of coworkers
