STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Social science, Supply chain, Economics, Nutrition, Agriculture, Management, Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects/ Programs or other closely related fields .
Experience:
- Four (4) or more years years of progressively responsible support work experience in transport / logistics or business administration , including at least two years in transport contracting and/or warehouse/commdity management .
- Experience in coordination and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including partners and governments.
- Ability to analyze diverse information and develop recommendations .
Skills:
- Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for representation.
- Skills in data management would be desirable
- Ability to engage effectively at field level with a wide range of actors including those in the international humanitarian community and governments.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple tasks in an autonomous manner.
- Maturity, initiative, courtesy, tact, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Languages:

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
WFP’s strategy in Benin for the period of 2019–2023 is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Government’s national development plan for 2018–2025 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Benin for 2019–2023. It’s based on the 2018 zero hunger strategic review recommendations, evaluations and lessons learned from previous programmes.
WFP use an integrated approach, institutional capacity strengthening and partnerships to support the Government in addressing food insecurity at the household, community and individual levels, focusing on four axes:
- school feeding under an integrated nutrition-sensitive, multisectoral approach (with linkages to social protection, education, health, agriculture, hygiene and sanitation);
- nutrition assistance, with an emphasis on the prevention of malnutrition, including micronutrient deficiencies among children and pregnant and lactating women and girls;
- institutional capacity strengthening, with home-grown school feeding as an entry point for promoting local food production, particularly in support of smallholder farmers, especially women;
- assistance to populations affected by crises in Benin during and after crises.
WFP works with government, other UN agencies, NGOs, private sector companies and others to mobilize resources, find innovative solutions and reach vulnerable communities in Benin.
JOB PURPOSE
These jobs are found in Benin Country Office (Djougou, Porto-Novo, Lokossa, Kandi, Pobé, Dassa, Aplahoue) and the job holders report to the Logistics Officer or to the designate.
To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with WFP warehouse standards and established guidelines.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Effectively receive/dispatch commodities including transhipment (truck to truck) against official approved documentation (e.g. waybills and/or delivery notes) ensuring accuracy in physical count of commodities including the quality in compliance with the established standards.
2. Prepare, verify and sign off warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential files and accurate warehouse transaction records to ensure immediate reporting on commodity movements in line with the corporate requirements.
3. Conduct daily warehouse closing reconciliation and accurate inventory checks supporting internal control systems in compliance with the warehouse management requirements.
4. Perform daily inspections and prepare reports on the quantity and quality of the commodities received/dispatched and handled, detect promptly and analyse reasons for stock discrepancies/damages, investigate missing quantity and prepare warehouse loss reports recommending appropriate solutions, to enable informed decision-making.
5. Implement appropriate measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, to ensure quality control using standard preventive measures in line with WFP established procedures and authorization received from the supervisor.
6. Monitor condition of the warehouse and commodities and take appropriate actions, to support efficient warehouse space-planning and well-organized commodity storage following WFP warehouse standards.
7. Provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to contribute to their development and high performance.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Completion of secondary school education. Formal drivers training with a valid driver’s license/certification to operate assigned vehicle following local rules and regulations.
Experience:
- Two (2) or more years of work experience as a Driver preferably in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks and other kinds of motorized vehicles. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads/waterways and conditions, and security issues.
• Good understanding of transport services and ability to coordinate routes and schedules for other Drivers.
• Knowledge of driving/boat operating rules and regulations whichever applicable.

JOB PURPOSE
These jobs are found in Benin Country Office (Cotonou, Aplahoue, Bohicon, Lokossa, Dassa, Kandi, Djougou, Pobè, Porto-Novo) and the job holders report to the Administration Officer, or the designate, and drive light vehicles, trucks, vans, motorcycles or any other type of land transport. They may also be assigned to operate speed boats or other types of watercrafts. The job may involve basic administrative assistance in the office or stores.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Provide transportation of authorized personnel including translation of basic conversations from/to the local language, and/or delivery of various items/commodities following authorized routing and UN safety and security rules and regulations to ensure safe and efficient services.
2. Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport or other entry points and provide basic assistance with visa and customs formalities to facilitate smooth and safe entry and arrival to the authorised destinations.
3. Responsible for accurate maintenance of the vehicle log books, and daily reporting to the supervisor on mechanical status, to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption supporting accurate accounting and cost-efficiency.
4. Responsible that the assigned vehicle is kept clean and in a good condition including all equipment, the maintenance is done on time, vehicle is fully equipped with required travel authorisations and supplies, and any mechanical issues are reported to the supervisor to ensure safe and efficient services.
5. Follow established rules and regulations for field deliveries and/or in cases of an accident, and report immediately to the supervisor on any apparent problems, to seek for instructions and facilitate informative decisions on the way forward.
6. Outside driving duties, perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required including delivery/collection of various items, mailing service and payment of office telephone and other bills to ensure administrative support to clients.
