In Senegal, the past years have been an exceptional journey for UNICEF. The country has made significant progress in advancing children’s and women’s rights.
Today, children in Senegal have a greater chance of reaching their fifth birthday than ever before. Child deaths have significantly declined over the past decades, a victory for children and women. Being able to go to school is now a reality for many more children.
UNICEF and its partners have led intensive advocacy efforts in the country, resulting in substantial progress in legislations, policies, strategies and national programming.
How can you make a difference?
The Chief of Social Policy reports to the Representative for general guidance and direction and is responsible for managing and supervising all stages of social policy programing and related advocacy from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of concrete and sustainable results. This includes programmes aimed at improving (a) public policies to reduce child poverty; (b) social protection coverage and impact on children; (c) the transparency, adequacy, equity and efficiency of child-focused public investments and financial management; and (d) governance, decentralization and accountability measures to increase public participation and the quality, equity and coverage of social services. This encompasses both direct programme work with government and civil society partners as well as linkages and support to teams working on education, health, child protection, water and sanitation, and HIV.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…
An advanced university degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or other relevant disciplines.
A minimum of eight years of relevant professional work experience is required.
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered a strong asset.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in French and an advanced working knowledge of English is required.
