ABOUT THE TEAM
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Geneva leads NRC’s representation with the IASC and UN agencies, and coordinates donor engagement with the UN and Swiss donors. NRC strives to assist and protect vulnerable and displaced people during crises, especially in situations of conflict. Established in 1946, NRC is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working in around 31 countries with approximately 14’000 staff. NRC employs a rights based approach, challenging those with responsibility to uphold the rights of displaced people set out within national and International Laws. NRC endeavors to secure the acceptance of local stakeholders for activities and is committed to the principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality.

NRC Geneva, with the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC), are NRC’s primary presence in Geneva.
JOB DESCRIPTION

If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Logistics Officer to join our Logistics Team in Maiduguri, Borno State. The purpose of the Logistics Officer position is to establish and implement NRC’s day-to-day logistics/fleet functions, systems, and procedures.
To be successful in this role you will be a Logistics/Fleet professional with good negotiation skills, a confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills, and capable of establishing strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and vendors at all levels while supporting new initiatives and learning projects across the area.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Role Responsibility
- Prepare all Logistics purchase requisitions ensuring that they are completed accurately.
- Prepare Military Clearances for the delivery of goods to field locations as requested.
- Conduct Fleet checks to ensure that all vehicles are properly registered and insured and that all basic equipment required as per Logistics requirements are in each vehicle.
- Check Vehicle Log Books regularly and sign to confirm checking.
- Prepare and circulate weekly facilities maintenance reports with the relevant staff.
- Ensure that facilities maintenance are conducted on a timely basis.
- Conduct regular spot checks of fixed assets such as vehicles and generators.
- Participate in assets and stock counts, once every quarter.
- Monitor the use of vehicles and generators by ensuring that log books for both are checked and signed regularly.
- Prepare vehicles carpool reports and maintenance reports on a monthly basis and share with the Logistics Team Leader.
- Prepare generators reports (fuel consumption and maintenance) on monthly basis and share with the Logistics coordinator.
- Ensure proper handover, including signatures, for all equipment allocated to NRC staff.
- Ensure proper filing of all documents related to fleet, maintenance, and assets management as per NRC policy (Loss and damage report, Asset transfer) is tagged in collaboration with Logistics Team Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for
- Proven record of accomplishment of professional experience in Logistics in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working as in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Good negotiation skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple suppliers, contractors and vendors at all levels, and challenge with humility when necessary
- Intuitive and empathetic, able to relate to others, and build report
- Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities successfully
- Experience in working within a team, meeting workload requirements, and being as effective through delivery as possible.
- Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required
- Fluency in English, both written & verbal, and other local languages is an added advantage.
