Opportunity
The local claims team is the contact point not only for the customer but also for the claims hubs and Centre Claims (CENCLM) and 3rd party vendors such as surveyors, Lawyers etc and will work in accordance with the defined demarcation set-up for area claims, local claims and claims hubs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as a point of contact/support for customers and internal stakeholders for all cargo claims including Ocean & LnS
- Registering all potential claims and transferring quantifiable claims to the global claims Hub for claims resolution
- Once received the claims assessment from claims hub (GLBCLM), evaluate to either appeal the decision to the Regional Claims Management and/or submit the claims resolution/settlement proposal to MLOS/Commercial Management
- Make recommendations, initiate and pursue appropriate claims prevention measures and corrective actions
- Establish working relationships with local claims vendors i.e.: surveyors, cargo salvors and P&I representatives
- Responsible for only cargo claims court cases and handing over court-cases to global claim desk
- Evaluate claims in accordance with local jurisdiction and assisting global claims in this regard, as well as assisting with claim documents translation
- Responsible for coordinating with the local office and advising them on claim handling and third-party recoveries
- Provide technical expertise and advice related to incidents, claims matter and loss prevention initiatives
KEY TASK:
- Handling cargo Claims as per APMM set guidelines
- Develop claims awareness and knowledge in frontline
- Extreme Longstanding Cargo follow up in line with the standing SOP
- Assess and document factual background of claims matters; establish and update Case Management System according with these cases
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as claimants (customer, recovery agents, Lawyer, Bailiffs, Under writer) and third-party claims administrators etc. in claims resolutions
- Coordinate with P&I Club / correspondents where necessary to secure Maersk interest
- Ensure all document related to claims are stored electronically and enter / update data in the claims data base (case management) according to process guidelines
- Identify gaps and formulate, drive and/or support corrective / loss prevention initiatives
- Continually monitor procedures and business practice and take measures to correct instances where Maersk is exposed to Cargo claims related risk or financial loss
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience within Shipping, Logistics and Supply chain, or Insurance Industry
- Proficiency in French – & English, both spoken and written.
- Experience in core claims handling (E2E end-to-end) (which includes Pre-claims handling, post-claims handling and independent quantified claim handling) will be an added advantage
- Legal Knowledge will be an added advantage

- The knowledge of local maritime laws, government regulations and Cargo claims process directly impacting claims handling in Ivory Coast
