Position within the Organization
The Regional IT Officer is a member of the Global Operations Unit which encompasses Finance, IT, Administration, Legal, Internal Audit and HR. The Global Operations Unit is led from the Headquarters office in Geneva, although team members are based in different locations around the world including in Bosnia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guatemala, Switzerland, Kenya, and Tunisia. The Regional IT Officer reports directly to the Head of IT. The position coordinates and collaborates with HeadQuarters, when needed, to support the Office’s work in the region. Under general supervision from the Head of IT, the Regional IT Officer works closely with IT Officers, IT Focal Points from the field offices, and external service providers to maintain a coherent, sustainable, secure, compliant, and reliable IT infrastructure and internal systems that foster collaboration, knowledge management and analytics for all users.
Purpose and General Overview
The Regional IT Officer primarily provides IT support to the Interpeace team based in the West Africa region and to other global IT initiatives. Working closely with the Head of IT and in line with the Global Operations and IT strategy, the Regional IT Officer supports global IT initiatives and defines minimum IT specifications for the Teams in the region. Guided by a global IT strategy and policy, s/he develops, guides, implements, monitors and maintains IT systems to ensure effective IT functioning for the teams in the region.
The position requires regional travel.
Guided by and in collaboration with the Head of IT, within the first 1-2 years, a successful Regional IT Officer will have
• Collectively with the other Interpeace IT Staff, support the definition of, roll out and maintain IT Security systems and policies.
• Successfully operationalized and optimized the Office’s IT
• Support the roll out and training of new systems replacing the existing Access Apps.
Duties and responsibilities
System design, security and maintenance
▪ Ensure the continued efficient operation of the existing systems in the Interpeace offices located in the Region, whilst the systems are being extended, improved and otherwise modified;
▪ Analyze, design, develop, implement and maintain new systems and networks and participate as a member of a development team with responsibility for major components of the more complex systems;
▪ Contribute to defining and Implement IT strategies for the offices in the region in view of the Interpeace growth in field projects/offices. Identify the need for new systems (or modifications to existing systems).
IT policy, guidance sheets and manuals
▪ Contribute to defining and implement Interpeace IT policy and procedures for Offices in the region; ▪ Contribute to defining (and adapt forthe region if required) training materials, guidance sheets and operating and user manuals.
User training and support
▪ Train staff in the use of key IT applications and processes
▪ Provide specialized advice to users, analyse users’ requirements and where necessary translate these into new network resources or applications
▪ Determine network and application systems integration and linkage issues
▪ Set up and operate an efficient help-desk function
▪ Troubleshoot and provide continuing usersupportto include resolving difficult problems, advising on the use of new techniques, monitoring transactions to measure performance and continued effectiveness of assigned systems, etc. for the offices in the region.
Inventory
▪ Support the Administration unit in maintaining the Inventory for all offices in the region
Scope and Impact
1. Responsibilities and objectives are assigned with some latitude for technical or administrative decision-making using defined guidelines from direct manager, written policy, signed/agreed programme 3 or project documentation and administrative directives. Unusual problems may be discussed with supervisor or others for clarification or escalation.
2. Provides functional advice and guidance on IT with some control responsibilities for maintaining standards at the regional level

Planning and implementation
▪ Suggests adaptations, plans, manages and executes streamlined processes, practices, programmes, initiatives and working methods for successful IT functioning for Teams in the region ▪ interprets and supports the design and planning of the IT global policy and strategy
▪ the development and implementation of global IT initiatives
Financial responsibility
▪ The Regional IT Officer isresponsible for monitoring the IT budget assigned to the Office and advises on its optimal use and allocation
Qualifications Education
• University Degree in IT or Industry Certifications such as MCSA/MCSE etc. required
Experience
• At least four years of relevant professional experience, including in deploying/maintaining Enterprise Networks, user support and training, IT Security including UTM solutions and website administration
Competencies
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-responsive and nondiscriminatory behavior and attitudes
• Fluency in English and French required
• Eligibility or able to obtain a work permit in Burkina Faso
